1990's Animal Baby Barrettes (Middle/High school)
1960's Space Age dress (Thrifted, $1)
1990's Velvet Mary Janes (Thrifted, $6)
What a morning. It is SO hot & humid here, geez. Came into the store and everything was in complete disarray- stuff fell from the ceiling, fruit flies EVERYWHERE... I moved an open can and a swarm flew out into my face. Grrrr. So, yeah, fruit fly war has begun...
Since I stayed up all night glued to the computer watching old music performances, I thought it was only proper to dress in some 60's/90's riot-ey grrrl gear. Baby barrettes? Check. Red lipstick? Check. Vintage babydoll-esque dress? You got it. Oh yeah, and you can NEVER forget those maryjanes, they tie the whole look together :).
My band is playing a show tonight (I know, I've probably mentioned this 10 times, lol), and sadly my fringe outfit didn't come together in time... But! I found an amazing 1950's party/prom dress that I altered to fit last night. I'm so excited! Going to top the look off with a messy beehive and some major 60's eye makeup :).
Back to "Riot Grrrl"; I feel jipped that I had to be in Elementary school in the early 90's... Although I was in love with Nirvana/Hole/My So Called Life at a young age, I had this aching feeling that there was so much out there that felt so far out of reach. Luckily, I gave myself a break. I was 7. Haha. Anyway, from the first time I heard girl fronted rock n' roll, I was in love. And still am! Watch the performance below- the energy is insane. And, of course, I included some pictures of my favorite ladies from the 70's-90's :). Enjoy!
Hopefully I will have a couple pics from the show tonight for you tomorrow, ally.
